Honda’s full-size Honda Accord sedan is a perennial favorite amongst commuters and fans of the family sedan. It’s long been a classic family car and a top seller for Honda. The 2020 iteration lives up to the car’s impressive history, offering a wide range of trim levels to meet every driver’s needs, several engine choices, stellar performance, and an array of top-of-the-line tech and safety features.
The 2020 Honda Accord comes in six trim levels: LX, Hybrid, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring. Three engines differentiate the trims, with the LX, Sport, EX, and EX-L sharing one, the Touring standing alone, and the Hybrid with its own gas and electric combo. All trim levels offer LED low-beam headlights with automatic on and off. From the Hybrid trim up, a smart entry system with walk-away auto-lock comes standard. The top Touring trim provides luxury-style exterior features like front and rear parking sensors and high beam LED headlights.
The standard engine for all trim levels but the Touring is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with standard front-wheel drive and a Continuously Variable Automatic Transmission, or CVT. It makes an impressive 192 horsepower with 192 lb-ft of torque. The Touring trim comes standard with a turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque behemoth of a motor is optional on the Sport and EX-L trims. The Hybrid model offers a 2-liter four-cylinder engine combined with two electric motors for a total of 21 horsepower.
If you’re looking for a vehicle that gives you the driving performance of a sporty coupe with the comfort and safety of a family sedan, the Honda Accord is perfect for you. All of its engines (even the hybrid) are tremendous performers with exhilarating power and acceleration paired to well-timed transmissions. Road feel is sufficient, and it handles well around corners, on narrow streets, and when merging onto the highway. The brakes are responsive, and the suspension does well to minimize bumps and vibrations on uneven terrain.
All trim levels of the 2020 Honda Accord seat five in two rows of seats. The seats themselves are comfortable and supportive. Starting with the Sport trim, heated and power seats come standard. For those looking for luxury finishes, the EX-L and Touring models offer leather-trimmed seats, and the Touring model also includes seat ventilation. Push-button start is standard across the line-up. A touchscreen infotainment system is included on all Accords, with either a 7-inch or 8-inch size depending on the trim level, alongside included Bluetooth connectivity. Additional smartphone and app connectivity, like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, becomes standard starting with the Sport trim.
Honda takes its driver and passenger safety seriously. As such, most high-end driver-assist technologies come standard across the lineup, including road departure mitigation, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, and automatic high-beam headlights. Additional safety features available for higher trim levels include blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert and a head-up display.
